The job

Suppliers email their bills to Tofu and the finance lead sends receipts and chef card purchases on WhatsApp. Tofu reads each document, codes it line by line and sends the bill to Xero. The lead reviews it weekly and matches it to the bank feed.

What happened

The finance lead estimates it saves him about two days a week.

Before, supplier invoices went into Xero drafts and took a whole day, coded in broad buckets because line by line coding would have taken two days. By 23 October 2026 the group had sent Tofu more than 1,800 documents. The bills reviewed so far carry 7,718 lines and 99% are coded to an account. The group covers nine restaurants and 14 businesses.

Before you believe it

Tofu wrote the story, so it is a vendor story. The two days a week is the finance lead's own estimate after about 11 weeks of use, since go live on 6 August 2026. The page says the group avoided hiring a second person but gives no cost figure. The story gives no staff count. A Telegraph piece from February 2025 reported 73 employees. The group has opened restaurants since, so confirm it is under 200 before you rely on it.
